Interview with Artist, Lushbunn

From Sketch to Screen: How Lushbunn Creates Stunning Pinup Art and Webtoons

How this Oregon-based artist blends vintage aesthetics with modern anime and comic influences.

Lushbunn is a pinup artist and webtoon creator currently juggling three ongoing projects—Snapped, Lost & Found Tenement, and Djinn & Tonia. Her weekly release schedule shines a spotlight on her remarkable talent, making each new episode a must-read for anyone who loves captivating pinup art and comics.

Hi Bunn, thank you for doing this interview.

Thank you.

What inspired you to be an Artist?

I have been drawing since I can remember, however, my mother was a great painter and she always encouraged me to keep drawing. At first, I drew animals, like my mother then moved onto a Disney art style and then after watching Dragon Ball Z, it’s been an anime style ever since.

You’re also a comic book Artist. What comics did you read growing up ?

I can only remember owning a Sonic the Hedgehog comic book, when I was very young. I only super got into manga and superhero comics when I was a teenager. I did not have a favorite, however. I would pick up any book that looked interesting at the time.

Speaking of growing up, where are you from?

I am from Oregon.

You do quite a bit of Pinup Art. Were you always interested in Pinup?

I have been interested in pinup since I was a teenager. I had a small collection of books and calendars and a collection of Playboy magazines.

Who are some of your favorite Artists?

As far as pinup goes, I love Olivia De Berardinis, Gil Elvgren, and more recently Favorskaya Marrianna on Instagram. As far as other artists go, I love Yoshitaka Amano and Akira Toriyama.

I am sketching constantly for lingerie ideas and poses. I think it helps for pinup art. At least, to surround yourself with beautiful women. Artwork, books, movies, statues and decor etc.

What tools and techniques do you use to achieve your final vision for a picture?

I mostly have been doing digital art on my iPad but I have been practicing both watercolors and colored pencils. I’m just not very good yet, lol.

What is it about the female form that you love to create in your art?

Women are just gorgeous.

What performers or writers have had an impact on you?

This question’s a tough one. I don’t like any specific people or groups, but love most music and watch a lot of movies and I love Playboy.

Artist Lushbunn

Do you have people sending messages complaining about your Pinup art being sexist and if so, what do you tell them?

I have found that most women and men adore pinup, I think it’s more of a celebration of beauty than being sexist.

What advice can you give to new Artists?

Keep drawing and learning new skills and draw what you love, not just what’s popular.

What was the oddest thing you’ve ever been asked to do in your career as an Artist?

So far, I can’t think of anything super weird, but give it time, lol.

What projects are you working on now?

I currently have 3 webtoon comics I’m working on. A sexier comic strip series on my Patreon  along with the pinup art.
